Should I Purchase Pokey?

It’s episode tie-in night! Tonight is The War of Art episode of The Simpsons. This is the seventh episode tie-in to TSTO in Season 25 for the show. In addition to the Guinea Pig Rescue Center and a Strupo Statue (20 donuts), there is a cute little guinea pig for 40 donuts named Pokey.

Is Pokey a good addition to your town? That’s ultimately up to you and your donut cache, of course, but here is some information that may help you decide whether or not to pay 40 donuts for a cute little NPC that makes squeaky noises. I bought Pokey this morning and the noises made my dogs’ ears perk up, so it was worth it (for me) just for that little joyous experience. But what about you? How do you come out on the Pro and Con list?

Pros

  • Limited time (probably won’t be back again)
  • Another NPC (if you love NPCs)
  • Makes cute squeaky noises
  • Is very cute
  • Helps complete the pets collection

Cons

  • Another NPC (if you do not like NPCs)
  • Is small and hard to find
  • Does not pay money or XP
  • Costs 40 donuts

 Lisa

Conclusion

If you are rolling in donuts and can afford Pokey, it might be worth it to buy. Pokey is very cute and makes fun squeaky sounds. Of course, if you are saving donuts or do not like NPCs, then Pokey is probably a pass. In short, guinea pig enthusiasts (you know who you are!), completionists, and the wildly wealthy are probably the market for Pokey. If you want to test Pokey before buying and you’re my neighbor, swing by my town to see Pokey in action…if you can find the little critter!  Pokey

I bought Pokey, love the sound effects, would be nice if he was a little bigger, was kind of a steep price at 40 donuts, but I have a soft spot for guinea pigs, like Lisa.😊

I bought the little bugger after some thought. Partially because I still have a small watercraft full of donuts and I’m a completionist. Also I hate to admit it ( okay not really ) but I’m getting a bit bored of TSTO. Hopefully we see a level update and something original soon as FGTO is sounding more and more tempting to me when it releases.

I bought it simply ’cause I am a completionist, but I do not particularly enjoy this little critter – it’s way too small for my bloated town which is running out of land since the Christmas event. :( Also, 40 donuts for a tiny, tiny guinea pig? That’s a bit steep, me thinks.

I think you are not the only person who feels this way! :)

I was a “completionist” but after Halloween I got a bit bothered by all the things roaming around, especially the ones that… JUST roam. So I’m on the fence, leaning towards not. There will definitely be something better to use the 40 donuts on… If that piggy stays there and taunts me long enough, who knows :)

I for one won’t be buying Pokey, I bought the Falcon and kinda regret it, as I hardly ever see it and feel that Pokey will be much the same, it’s a shame as he does help complete the pets collection, but for 40 donuts, that’s a bit steep for me right now and I think 20 would have been a fairer price :)

I don’t blame you Stubee, i bought both Pokey and the falcon and regret both, they are simply to small. But hey i like animals lol!

I normally like to have additions to the town but after buying the falcon I started to suffer deep signs of tsto depression as 40 donuts would have been over half way to unlocking a character, I then jumped the gun and bought pokey as soon as he was available which is another regret so 80 donuts gone! Too many animal Npcs added to the game, I have santas little helper, zombie cat, zombie dog, robot dog, falcon, guinea pig, that stupid frog that pukes, snowball cat and stampy (at least he’s interactive) would have proffered to spend donuts on Hans moleman and had 20 donuts to spend on other things, also that bottle of spirit for 20 donuts is a piece of crap too! Big waste of money but hey at least they’re limited time additions so in future I can look back and have something other new players won’t.

For me it’s too expensive, and doesn’t provide enough value. I’d rather save those 40 donuts to put towards something more useful. To each their own though. :)

Yeah, of they at least gave some type of earning bonus… Leaning toward passing.

Cuteness aside, because Pokey is so tiny I’m on the fence about buying him! Since I always buy for both of my towns it’s a double quandary !!!

It’s so frustrating when bugs like this pop up. I’m glad your town came back! When I have had a problem, it took some time and required some patience, but going through the official EA support channel did result in a fix and a small amount of free donuts for the trouble. But it’s always better when games just work.

So, are you happy with Pokey now that your town is back? Hopefully this stressful initial experience just formed a lasting bond between you and your new pet that will bring much joy in the days to come! :)

      Yes very stressful!
I’m not impressed with Pokey, he’s so tiny and is very hard to locate. But having a scare like i just had has made me realise how much i love this game, i would of been lost if i had to start from level one again.
P.S love your screenshot above! Its like Arnie is pointing out where Pokey is, almost like he knows how hard he is to locate. Lol.

I am glad your town is all back safe an sound HB, I was in your town earlier today and all was fine, although you had nothing for me to tap, which was strange :/ I also lost my town a few weeks ago, as it somehow reset to the start, with the Homer intro, I was logged in, so (trying to stay calm) I logged out and then logged back in, and all was good, everything was as it was, most strange? But as you say, it makes you realise how much you love the game when it happens :)

        • #16 by hannahbanana2014 on March 23, 2014 - 2:49 pm

Ah im sorry there was no buildings for you to tap, there is now as i cleared all my handshakes. Literally just visited your town! I couldn’t believe it earlier i actually thought my town was wiped! But all is good now :)

            Phew, sanity restored :p

I bought Pokey, went for a coffee, came back and my whole town, donuts & money is gone. Skinman2000 could you quickly pop to the help page and read my comment? If possible check if my town is still in your friends list and buildings still there? For some reason my game has reset back to the beginning and I am not happy! Im reinstalling now and hoping it comes back. If not EA are getting a very angry strong worded email from me, and will have one everyday until my town is back. Im so upset I could cry…

Oh my gosh! Reinstalled worked! My town is back!! So sorry! Please ignore/delete the above comment!
