A Minor Christmas Spoiler

It is better to give than to receive, and it looks as though that message will be incorporated into the upcoming Christmas update, as will the community prize system. This information comes courtesy of spAnser, and while this isn’t a huge spoiler it does at least let us know we’ll be working towards unlocking five prizes.

This time we know our target goals ahead of time, or at least we do now thanks to this minor spoiler. How easy will they be to attain? We won’t know for sure until the event starts, which judging by all accounts should be sometime tomorrow.

Update: Some images of the new content have leaked. It includes buildings and characters.

Poll: Team Yellow

One of the things that has made The Simpsons so successful is that its got something for everyone. If you want slapstick, whack – you got it. If you want Simpson Familyirony, it’s staring you right in the face. If you want social justice or injustice, you don’t have to look far. If you’re a wantin’ some low-ball yokel type a humor, yup, you betcha. If you want high brow or low brow humour, it’s no further than the Springfield barber shop.

But the one thing that rings true for viewers and players of all ages, gender, IQ and hair color is the genuine familial situations and characters of the Simpson family. You’ve got Homer, the lovable, bumbling husband and father. Marge, the doting, big-haired, goofy mother and wife. Lisa, the intellectual, gifted and frustrated daughter. Bart, the adventurous rascal, brat son. Maggie, the innocent, cuddly, cuti-pie infant. And Grandpa, the forgetful, blundering, sweet old man.

They’ve all had wacky and unforgettable story lines over the years and they have all endeared themselves to each of us in one way or another. But if you had to choose a favorite Simpson, who would it be?

This question has got me going back and forth and round and round – I love me some Homer, and Bart and I have definitely yucked it up over the years, but at this point in my life I find that I am solidly backing Team Lisa. It’s her wit, her dry sense of humor, the utter hopelessness of her situation coupled with a determination to help others understand rather than belittle. With a strong sense of right and wrong, the ability to feel true empathy for her fellow cartoon characters and an intellectual curiosity that rivals Prof. Fink, she’s much more aspirational to me than any escalator or zirconia.

But, what about you my fellow Tappers? Who is your most beloved Simpsons family member? And don’t forget to let us know why you chose who you did in the comments section.
