Should I purchase the Cauldron?

The Cauldron is more than just a festive decoration, it also unlocks the Marge The Witch costume. Last year this premium item would have cost you 90 donuts, but its price this year has been reduced to 75 donuts. So is worth the trouble to make the fire burn and caldron bubble?

  • She earns money and XP at the premium rate
  • Her 16h “Trick-or-Treating” task will earn 8 GOO
  • The Cauldron provides 2.25% bonus money and XP to all Jobs
  • Not only do you get a costume, but you get a nice decoration as well
  • She has the unique ability of being able to “Speed Up a Crop” on Cletus’s Farm
  • When Lisa “Goes Trick or Treating” she is in a witch costume too, which is a nice sentiment

  • You may want to save your donuts for something else
  • The costume does not come with its own quest line like it did last year

It seems that Witch Marge is the best purchase of the previously available Halloween content. The fact that she pays premium rates and delivers a cauldron that gives a bonus percentage multiplier is vastly superior to the Devil Flanders costume that earns regular rates and does not come with any other objects. The rest of the characters are all NPCs.

I am intrigued by the House of Evil shop, but I will probably not purchase. I think it would be more worth the donuts if it included the talking krusty doll as it did last year. The chance to have another building to help get the Consumerism rating up to 5 stars without having six Kwik-E-Mart franchises is enticing.

I’m still very confused on this. If it takes Marge 4 hours to do the crop spell, and the normal grow time is reduced by THE SAME FOUR HOURS (ie. the time that it would grow/reduce anyway without her task) then how is this “speeding up” anything? In your example of 24 hour Moonshine, shouldn’t there be 16 hours left on the grow time if she reduced it by four hours? If not, there is NO reduction.

If I sound angry, it is because I bought the Cauldron two days ago because I wanted to grow corn for the first time. I have since sent Marge to “speed crops” five times–and it has NOT reduced my grow time even by a single minute. I have looked around on the web and some folks say it works for corn, some say it was never intended to work for corn. I totally regret the $9000 I just blew–because my farm will be out of action for three months.

So, what happens if you have Witch Marge speed up a crop of tomacco? Is it finished instantly? If so, and this is undoubtedly too much to ask of even a witch, but does WM speed up the next crop(s) of tomacco planted after the first crop during that task’s four hours?

It only works on crops that take four hours or more to harvest. So, the first crop it will work on is Silvertongue, cutting the time down to 4h instead of 8h.

I purchased witch marge and had her go trick or treating. Ever since I can’t find her. I’m supposed to have her go on a date with bont but I can’t get to her. In the task bar I’ll tap “do it” and it will take me to a place on my town that I didn’t own, and a thumbs up appeared for a second. I bought the land, still no marge. I deleted and reinstalled the app, still no marge. Any suggestions?

Put Moe’s Tavern into storage, then place it again. It’ll reset Moe and Marge.

Since her 16 hr. task earns 8 GOO, and her 12 hr. task earns 5 GOO, it’s actually better in the long run to do the 16 hr. task. After 48 hrs, Witch Marge gets 24 GOO, and regular Marge gets 20 GOO.

You’re right. I did the math wrong. Con removed.

You forgot one further advantage (which is why I also bought Devil Flanders!): you can do the jobs after Halloween and have Halloween-Atmosphere for the whole year! Plus, some boring jobs or indoor jobs can be replaced by these cool animations! Both are a must-have, I think!!!

There’s also a 2.75 bonus too. Or maybe 2.50. That’s y I bought it. Also so marge can have premium money

I got her last year and have never regretted it – love to have her do her victory laps on her witch’s broom, and then to hurry up crops when i get a quest to plant something else. And cheaper is always better!

Hi – there is no secret – using her task speeds up the growing time of all crops – for moonshine it decreases the overall time by 4 hours each time you use it.

Just wondering how the task to speed up a crop is supposed to work. I planted Moonshine (24 hr job) then put Marge the Witch on her “speed up crop” task. After she was done, there was no change in the moonshine time left, except for the 4 hours that had elapsed. So, how does this work?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I did the exact same as Angie, with no change. I specifically bought the cauldron for this purpose. Looking forward to the answer. Thanks

You have to run both at the same time. If Moonshine takes 24h, and then you run the Speed up a crop task which takes 4h, the 24h for the Moonshine will become 20h. You can keep doing this with Marge The Witch every 4h to effectively reduce the time it takes to finish a crop by half.

Thanks. Maybe I just didn’t notice the crop time decrease. I’ll have to retry it, when she’s not trick or treating. Still fun to have a new costume, too. Cheers!
