TSTOgame

A blog dedicated to the popular mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Daily Archives: August 11, 2013

Hi, everybody! Hi, feelingblind!

Hello. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My user name is feelingblind and I am the creator of this blog.

This web-site was created in response to the unfortunate series of events that befell TSTO Tips. While I was never affiliated with the site or any of its staff, I did visit the site on a daily basis. When it became clear that there was a need for another Tapped Out centric blog, I created this one.

Unlike TSTO Topix, a blog comprised of several former TSTO Tips staff members, I am the only one who will be posting updates on this blog. It may seem like a lot for one person to take on, but I appreciate the challenge.

Earlier in the year I wrote an FAQ for the game, which was published to GameFAQs. It proved to be rather difficult to keep updated considering how often new content is added to game, so it is now considerably out of date. I plan to submit a small update to the file though, if only to add a link to this blog somewhere in the header.

So far the response to this blog has been quite positive, so thank you all for your support! I know it may seem superfluous to have multiple blogs covering the same game, but I feel as though this site has a lot to offer. My goal is to provide the best Tapped Out blog I possibly can by providing you with information that is both entertaining and easy to read.

Oh, and don’t forget to follow @TSTOgame on Twitter to keep track of all the latest blog updates.

Is it worth 25 donuts to take a chance with a Laffy Meal?

laffy_mealThe Laffy Meal is sort-of a cross between a Mystery Box and Homer Buddah. You have a chance of winning some premium items, but you have a higher chance of just winning tickets. It might not seem like a bad thing to win tickets, especially if you’re low on them, but they are easy enough to earn over time through regular game play.

If you’ve already bought or won some of the premium items listed below, depending on the prize, it will be replaced with a chance to win more tickets. You may get lucky and win a premium item for a fraction of the cost. On the other hand if you buy too many Laffy Meals, you may find that you would have just been better off buying the item you wanted straight away.

If you play multiple times a day, avoid 24h tasks

If you look at any character’s task list, the 24h tasks are the ones with the highest values. You may think it is wise to just send all of your characters on 24h tasks and collect the rewards once per day, but you would be wrong. As a rule of thumb you should try to send your characters on tasks based on how often you check your device. For instance, before you go to sleep, send your characters off on 8h tasks. By doing this they will finish with their tasks close to the same time you would wake-up.

Let’s take a look at a standard character and examine the benefits to choosing quicker tasks.

Do cross-promotional events entice you to watch the show?

cool_homerThere have been a few instances in the game where quests lines and items would be released to correspond with a new episode of the television show. While it is always exciting to get new items and story lines in the game, does it make you want to see the corresponding episode when it airs?

The Simpsons: Tapped Out has received more than a few items and costumes inspired by episodes from this past season. We’ve gotten a few new buildings like the Cool Brown House and the Swanky Fish restaurant, the Springfield Falls, and lots of new costumes: Gorgeous Grampa, Fruit-Bat-Man, Respectable Moe, and Cool Homer. Some of these items were free, while some were only available to purchase with donuts for a limited time, but all the same it did add new content to the game.
